When beginning any artwork, I focus on composition, lights and shadows and the subject I have chosen. It is
important to love what I am doing at the moment. With so much available, mostly in nature, it is hard for me to limit
my subject matter. Throughout my work, I strive to capture nature's beauty.
Oils / Mixed Media:
Sketching on site helps set the tone of the painting, keeping me mentally outdoors while executing the painting in
my studio. With a strong photography background, photos are used when setting up still life or shooting outdoors
along with pencil sketches as reference material in my works. What inspires me today, may not tomorrow and the
need to create at the moment is necessary.
"When viewing your artwork, I was aware of the strong connection between the artist and the paintings."

Photography:
In 2007, I began exhibiting my photography as well. Many times I will come across a subject that does not lend
itself to transform into a painting. The true beauty of the image needs to remain just that, a photographic image.
"Turning a flower into a black and white image shows the core beauty of the species. " I truly enjoy sharing all that
is around us.
As a self-taught artist, I furthered my studies with college course study, workshops and private instruction -
painting, drawing and shooting most of my life. I have received numerous awards in juried exhibitions over the
years and a member of local, regional and national art organizations. Taking my business full time in 2001 has
been an exciting and rewarding time for me. Doing what I do best and loving every minute of it!
I hope you enjoy the galleries and I look forward to any comments or questions you may have.
